Covid Care Concerts

Covid Care Concerts

As part of our community and outreach initiatives during the Covid-19 pandemic, Blackwater Valley Opera Festival partnered with the renowned classical music ensemble Mobile Music Machine to bring over 350 Covid Care Concerts to residential care homes across 13 counties nationwide.  Featuring performances by a number of internationally acclaimed artists, including tenor Anthony Kearns, soprano Sandra Oman, violinist Lynda O’Connor and cellist Gerald Peregrine, the Covid Care Concerts have become a vital resource for residents and staff, bringing classical music into the lives of the most vulnerable members of society and those most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Blackwater Valley Opera Festival partnered with Mobile Music Machine to deliver these one-hour concerts at a safe and appropriate social distance in the grounds and gardens of care homes. We are proud to have been part of a programme which has brought such joy and hope to our older communities. The Covid Care Concerts series has been generously funded by The Ireland Funds, Creative Ireland, Rethink Ireland, The National Lottery and the Lakeside Fund.
