Don Pasquale at Lismore Castle

The witty Opera Don Pasquale by Gaetano Donizetti performed at the beautiful setting of Lismore Castle

Tickets are available across various price bands for this performance starting at €85 with 3 course dinner (from 6pm) & picnic options also available. Tickets for Friday & Saturday performances are completely sold-out.

Trio In Concert – ‘Impressions’ Stanford, Trimble, Ireland, Brahms

Three exceptionally talented musicians come together in concert for the very first time; Pablo Barragán / Clarinette – Nadege Rochat / Cello – Maki Wiederkehr / Piano.

Giovanni Bellucci – Liszt and Opera Concert 


Sunday 2nd June at Dromore Yard, Aglish – 8:15pm

World-famous Italian pianist Giovanni Bellucci plays a programme of opera paraphrases featuring works of Liszt inspired by famous operas.

BVOF Opera Chorus Recital

Thursday 30th May at Villierstown Church – 12 noon

Introducing new audiences to opera at an affordable price, and platforming emerging talent, this friendly and accessible event presents arias, duets and ensembles from favourite operas from around the world. A light Lunch option is available at the nearby Compassionate Kitchen.

Irish Heritage Bursary Recital

Friday 31st May at Dromore Yard, Aglish – 12 noon

Three young musicians, in association with Irish Heritage, the UK based organisation promoting the careers of young Irish musicians in the UK, will perform and receive their Blackwater Valley Opera Festival awards ; Tara Viscardi / Harp – Peter Harris / Tenor – Amy Gillen / Flute accompanied by Brian Hughes / Piano. During the Double Bill lunchtime interval for the best pizzas and ice-cream north of Italy, Volcano Pizza & Baldwin Ice Creams will be providing their delicious fare.

Zürich International Opera Studio Recital

Friday 31st May at Dromore Yard, Aglish – 3pm

Zürich International Opera Studio, which has become one of the most important educational institutions for budding young opera singers. Accompanied by Brenda Hurley, Director of the Zürich International Opera Studio, on piano Justyna Bluj / Soprano (Poland) – Richard Walshe / Bass-Baritone (England) – Gemma Ni Bhriain / Mezzo (Ireland) will perform.

RDS Collins Memorial Recital

Saturday 1st June at St. Carthage’s Cathedral, Lismore – 12 noon

Showcasing the 2018 RDS Collins Memorial Award winner cellist Killian White accompanied by Máire Carroll on piano whose recital at the same venue last year was completely sold out.

The Sleeping Queen, Operetta by Balfe

Saturday 1st June at St. Carthage’s Cathedral, Lismore – 3pm

The Sleeping Queen is a one act comic operetta (75 mins) by Ireland’s leading nineteenth-century opera composer, Michael William Balfe. Curated by Una Hunt who will give a short pre-opera talk , The Sleeping Queen has a cast of four characters with original scoring for piano accompaniment rather than orchestra.

Organ Recital

Sunday 2nd June at St. Carthage’s Church, Lismore – 4:30pm 

St Carthage’s Parish Church will open its doors to the Festival for the first time for an organ recital by Simon Harden who will be accompanied by Dearbhla Nolan on trumpet.This exciting combination of organ and trumpet is sure to entertain at this beautiful venue.
